1. What the Game's Own Wiki Says
The Murder Mystery 2 Wiki maintains a Codes page with two sections: Working Codes, and Past Codes (Discontinued). The Working Codes section contains exactly one line of content — a bolded, underlined statement that there are no working codes right now. The Past Codes table lists seventeen retired codes with the item each one granted.
One caveat we will state rather than hide: that wiki page's own most recent revision is dated April 30, 2025. It is not a page that was updated this week. We are relying on it because it is the closest thing to a first-party record that exists for this game, because its archive is verifiable item by item against in-game knives, and because nothing we found from any other source demonstrates a genuine code released since. But if Nikilis drops a code tomorrow, that wiki may not be the first place it appears — see section 5 for where to actually watch.
2. The Eight Strings Being Circulated as "Working"
Several pages currently rank for MM2 codes while presenting the same eight strings as an active August 2026 list: N30N, SUMM3R26, COMB4T2, SK00L, FREEG0DL1ES, R3PT1L3, PR1SM and N1K1L1S. One such article describes them as "the complete working code list" tied to a 2026 summer update, unlocking "seasonal crates, cosmetic accessories, and premium summer event loot".
We checked each of the eight against the wiki's Past Codes table by exact string match. They fall into three groups, and none of the three is "working".
Group A — real codes, long expired (3 of 8)
R3PT1L3, PR1SM and COMB4T2 are genuine. All three appear in the wiki's discontinued table: R3PT1L3 granted the Reptile knife, PR1SM the Prism knife, and COMB4T2 the Combat II knife. They are real pieces of MM2 history and they are all in the retired column. Presenting them as an August 2026 seasonal drop is presenting decade-old dead codes as new.
Group B — corrupted versions of real codes (2 of 8)
Two of the strings are near-misses that will never redeem, because they are misspellings of codes that did once exist.
SK00Lis a truncation ofB4CK2SK00L, the real code for the Skool knife. We searched the wiki source forSK00Las a standalone entry: it occurs only as a substring insideB4CK2SK00L, never on its own. The "B4CK2" prefix has simply been dropped somewhere in the copying chain.N30Nis a corruption ofN3ON, the real code for the Neon knife. The difference is a single character — the real code uses the letter O, the circulated version substitutes a zero.N30Ndoes not appear anywhere in the wiki's code history.
This is the tell that these lists were copied rather than tested. A publisher who had actually typed SK00L into the game would have learned within five seconds that it does nothing.
Group C — no trace in the game's code history (3 of 8)
SUMM3R26, FREEG0DL1ES and N1K1L1S appear nowhere in the wiki's Codes page — not in the working section, not in the seventeen-entry discontinued archive. We searched the raw wikitext for each string and got zero matches. MM2's real codes granted specific named knives that exist as tradeable items in game; these three correspond to no such item. On the evidence available, they look invented. SUMM3R26 in particular reads as a plausible-sounding seasonal code built to match an article about a summer update.
3. A Tracker Disagreement We Are Not Going to Paper Over
Honesty requires flagging a conflict that runs against the simple version of this story. Roblox Den's Murder Mystery 2 page, on its own stated check of August 16, 2026, marks five codes as active — F1RSTC0D3, G003Y, PATR1CK, SK3TCH and PR1SM — with seventeen more filed as expired.
We are not carrying those five as active, for two reasons. First, all five appear in the wiki's Past Codes (Discontinued) table, meaning the game's own wiki has retired every one of them; under our sourcing rules a game's own wiki outranks a third-party tracker. Second, the five are not a coherent group — they are simply the top five rows of the same historical archive, which is what a stale "active" flag on an old list looks like rather than a genuine live set.
The same page also illustrates how the corruption spreads: Roblox Den's expired list contains both B4CK2SK00L and SK00L as separate entries, and carries N30N while not carrying the real N3ON at all. That is the same duplication-by-mistranscription visible in the "active" lists, just filed one column over.
If you want to test the five yourself, the redeem box costs you nothing but a few seconds. We would simply rather tell you they are five retired codes from an archive than print them under a heading that implies a reward is waiting.
4. The Verified Historical Archive
These are the seventeen codes in the Murder Mystery 2 Wiki's Past Codes (Discontinued) table, transcribed from the page source on August 16, 2026, with the item each granted. Every one of them is expired. They are published here so you can recognise a recycled archive code when another page offers it to you as current.

The archive has its own internal logic, which is part of why it reads as genuine. The wiki notes that the Alex, Corl, Denis, Sketchy and Sub knives are modelled on members of the Roblox YouTube group The Pals — five codes, five creators, one promotional campaign. N3XTL3V3L refers to "The Next Level", a Twitch series run by Roblox employees between 2014 and 2016. B4CK2SK00L ran around the back-to-school period. HW2017 was a Halloween 2017 promotion and remains the only pet ever handed out by a code. That is a history, not a list.

5. Where a Real Code Would Actually Appear
This is the part worth bookmarking, because it is what makes the difference next time a code drops.
The wiki states that MM2 codes are "mostly always given away at Nikilis's twitter page", and that codes can also be given away at JD's YouTube channel (the wiki credits the account Didi1147). That is corroborated first-party by the game's own Roblox description, in which Nikilis writes: "Check out my profile for quick links to my pages! Like, follow, and subscribe for exclusive update news, free knife codes, and more!" The developer is telling you himself that codes come through his social channels, not through the game.
- Nikilis on X (formerly Twitter) — the primary historical channel, and the one where the great majority of the seventeen archive codes originated.
- JD's YouTube channel (Didi1147) — the secondary channel named by the wiki.
- Nikilis's Roblox profile — carries the current links to both, per the game description.
Anything that does not trace back to one of those two accounts is, at best, someone repeating a rumour. There is no MM2 Discord code channel, no in-game announcement board, and no seasonal code schedule — the codes are irregular promotional drops, and there has not been a new one in a long time.
6. How to Redeem, When There Is Something to Redeem
- Launch Murder Mystery 2 and wait to load into a lobby.
- Open your Inventory using the Inventory icon on the left side of the screen.
- With the inventory panel open, find the
EnterCodebox in the bottom right of the panel. - Type or paste the code in exactly, then press Redeem.
MM2 codes are case-sensitive and were historically written in all caps with digits substituted for letters — the 0-for-O and 3-for-E pattern visible throughout the archive above. That substitution scheme is exactly what makes these codes so easy to mistranscribe, and it is why two of the eight circulating strings are corrupted rather than invented. Copy and paste rather than typing.
Rewards, historically, were knives and one pet, delivered straight to your inventory. No MM2 code has ever granted currency, and no source we checked publishes an expiry date for any code in the archive — they were simply switched off at some point after their promotion ended.
Update Rule
We do not mark a code as active just because another page says it is active. The page records what was checked, when it was checked, and what players should verify next. If Nikilis releases a working Murder Mystery 2 code, this page will carry it with the date and the channel it came from — and until then it will keep saying there are none, which is the useful answer even though it is not the popular one.
