Murder Mystery 2 is a social deduction game on Roblox from the verified creator Nikilis, one of the oldest and most-played experiences on the platform. Every figure on this page comes from Roblox's own public API rather than a tracker's paraphrase, each one stamped with the moment we read it. At 19:45 UTC on August 18, 2026 the game carried 1,093,209 players in game against 29,323,040,801 lifetime visits since its January 2014 launch.

Both links open the live JSON, so you can re-run our reading yourself rather than take our word for it — the numbers will have moved on since we read them, which is the point:

A single reading is a snapshot rather than a trend: concurrency moves with time of day and day of week, and we publish the exact timestamp precisely so it can be read that way rather than as a running total.
What Is Live Right Now
Roblox's own description field says nothing about the following — it comes from dated third-party coverage, not the developer, and we found no first-party confirmation on Twitter/X or Discord.
- Summer Event 2026, ending soon. BloxBoom (Jul 30), MM2.Rocks (Aug 2), TimeSaver.gg (Aug 10) and MMOexp (Aug 14, all 2026) agree: the event opened July 23, 2026 at 5:00 PM EDT and ends August 23, 2026 — five days after this page's August 18 reading.
- Pier map. Per BloxBoom and MMOexp, a new carnival/boardwalk map joining Beach Resort and Yacht in rotation, referencing in-game toys like Teddy.
- Summer Box '26 and Shells. TimeSaver.gg, BloxBoom and MM2.Rocks agree on the cost: 120 Shells (or 60 Gems) per box, earned via Daily Shell Quests for collecting coins in matches.
- Ice Cream Godly knife. The box's headline prize, per MMOexp and MM2.Rocks: an ice-cream-cone knife with a chocolate/vanilla/strawberry blade, plus a rarer Chroma variant. Both cite a drop rate near 0.2% (MMOexp: under 0.1% for Chroma); BloxBoom says no official rate is published, so treat 0.2% as third-party-reported, not confirmed.
- Record concurrency claim. TimeSaver.gg and MMOexp report a launch-day peak near 1.1 million concurrent players, said to break a record held by Adopt Me — a historical peak our single-moment Live Snapshot cannot re-verify.
Background
Murder Mystery 2 launched on January 18, 2014, which makes it over twelve years old, and the platform recorded its most recent developer update on August 14, 2026 — four days before this reading. A game from 2014 still carrying over a million concurrent players is unusual on Roblox, and the developer's own description points at part of the reason: alongside the round itself, players "collect and trade hundreds of knives," a trading economy with its own community-set rarity that gives people a reason to stay long after the round-to-round loop stops being new. The description also directs players to Nikilis's own profile and social pages for "exclusive update news, free knife codes, and more" — the developer's own stated channel for how knife codes have historically been given away.
How the Game Works
The following is drawn line for line from the developer's own Roblox game description, not from play. A group of players is dropped into a map together and each round assigns everyone one of three secret roles. Innocents "run and hide from the Murderer" and use "detective skills to expose the Murderer." The Sheriff works with the Innocents and is described as "the only one with a weapon who can take down the Murderer." The Murderer is told to "eliminate EVERYONE" without "get[ting] shot by the sheriff." That is the full extent of what the developer states. We have not played the game and are not going to describe round timers, map layouts, movement technique or any rule the description does not name — if we cannot source it first-party, it does not go on the page.
Official Channels
Where to go for first-party information. We link these without nofollow because we have checked them and stand behind them, unlike the third-party trackers cited on the codes page.

- Nikilis's Roblox profile — the verified creator account the game's own description points to for update news and knife codes.
The raw API endpoints behind our figures are linked in the Live Snapshot section above rather than here, because they are a verification tool rather than somewhere a player would go.

Murder Mystery 2 Codes (August 2026)
Why there is no active code list right now, the redeem path in the Inventory panel, the channels codes have historically dropped on, a seventeen-code verified historical archive, and a source-by-source breakdown of the strings currently being sold as working.
Codes
Murder Mystery 2 has a code redemption box built into its Inventory panel, but there is currently no working code to enter into it. Our codes page treats every circulating string as a dated source-listed signal rather than an active promise, and walks through exactly why the codes being advertised elsewhere are dead archive codes, corrupted transcriptions, or strings with no trace in the game's history at all.

No active codes, the redeem path, historically real vs. corrupted vs. invented strings, and a dated source list.
Update Rule
We do not mark a code as active just because another page says it is active, and we do not quote a player count without saying when we read it. This page records what was checked, when it was checked, and where the evidence runs out.
