Saros is Housemarque's cinematic action game for PlayStation 5, published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and released worldwide on April 30, 2026. This hub is built entirely from Housemarque and Sony's own game and press pages rather than a tracker's paraphrase, since there is no live-stats API for a PS5 exclusive the way there is for Roblox titles. Reading Metacritic on August 18, 2026, Saros carried a Metascore of 87 across 137 critic reviews, rated Generally Favorable.

Coverage stance: We have Housemarque and Sony's own game and press pages, plus a dated third-party report on a redeemable avatar-pack promotion — and we have not played Saros. This hub stops at what those official pages state; there is no strategy guide here and no invented mechanics. Saros carries no in-game code-redemption menu the way a Roblox title does, so there is no dedicated codes page — see Codes below.

What Is Live Right Now

The following comes from PlayStation's own Saros game page, Metacritic's own scoring page, and dated outlet coverage, all read August 18, 2026 — not a tracker's summary.

  • PlayStation Plus Premium trial. PlayStation's own game page offers subscribers a 2.5-hour trial of Saros before purchase.
  • Free avatar pack. A six-avatar pack became redeemable through a code on the PlayStation.com game page, per Push Square's report of May 3, 2026; the redemption steps are in Codes below.
  • Latest patch. Shacknews reported that patch 1.004.003, released May 19, 2026, fixed a progression-blocking bug and an area-skipping exploit.
  • Current critical standing. Metacritic's own page puts the game at 87 across 137 critic reviews and 7.8 across 1,015 user ratings as of this reading.

Background

Housemarque announced Saros on PlayStation Blog on February 12, 2025, with creative director Gregory Louden calling it "the ultimate evolution of the Housemarque gameplay-first experience." Sony's own press release confirms Saros launched worldwide exclusively on PS5 on April 30, 2026, in Standard ($69.99) and Digital Deluxe ($79.99) editions; Housemarque's own site marked the moment a day earlier, on April 29, 2026, calling it "a new cycle" after years of development — we note that one-day gap between the two dates rather than picking one silently. PlayStation's March 26, 2026 hands-on report describes Saros as a spiritual successor to Housemarque's 2021 title Returnal, trading that game's solitary structure for crew radio communications.

How the Game Works

Per PlayStation's own game page and its March 26, 2026 hands-on report, Saros is a third-person action game built around "bullet ballet" combat: players dash with L1 to negate damage, hold R1 to raise a Soltari Shield that absorbs blue enemy projectiles to charge alien Power Weapons, and parry incoming attacks, alongside human-made Hand Cannons, Rifles and Shotguns. Levels reconfigure procedurally between runs around handcrafted encounters, and a "Second Chance" feature grants one free revive per run as part of a permanent progression system that carries weapon and armour upgrades between deaths. That is the extent of what Housemarque and Sony state first-party. We have not played Saros, and we are not describing boss attack patterns, optimal builds or difficulty-modifier recommendations from second-hand summaries — if we cannot trace a mechanic to Housemarque or Sony's own pages, it does not go on this hub.

Codes

Saros does not run a Roblox-style in-game code-redemption menu. The current code-based promotion is a free avatar pack: per Push Square's report of May 3, 2026, players sign into the PlayStation.com Saros game page, follow its "Call the Eclipse" link, then enter a region-specific code (for example BN5Q-7B28-G7ND for the Americas) under Redeem Code in their PSN avatar settings to unlock six avatars — one of protagonist Arjun Devraj and five depicting game bosses. We list this as a source-listed signal rather than a confirmed live code, since we have not redeemed it ourselves and PlayStation's own page carries no stated expiry date. We do not have a dedicated codes page for Saros — this section is it, and we will build one if a broader, ongoing code system appears.

Update Rule

We do not repeat a promotion as live without checking PlayStation's own page for it, and we do not quote a patch number without a dated outlet behind it. This page records what Housemarque and Sony's own pages stated, and when we read them.
